Will the solar panel system affect the conditions of the roof?

Panasonic uses a customized flashing system with every install to ensure the roof is protected and to prevent leaks. When installed on properties, the solar panels will actually protect your roof from harmful UV rays, thus significantly prolonging the life of your shingles. As a secondary benefit, the panels absorb the sun’s heat, resulting in a cooler house during hotter months.

Can we install on a flat roof?

Yes, we have installed many solar panel systems on flat roofs for both commercial and residential properties.

What types of roofs can you do installations?

The Panasonic team has experience installing on all types of roofs, including asphalt shingles, metal, flat and commercial inverted.


Does Panasonic cover any modifications required to the hydro line?

Panasonic’s full turnkey solution ensures that customers are covered and will not pay any more in cases where the utility company needs to update or modify the hydro line in order to connect your system to the grid.


Will my solar solution increase my property taxes?

No, it will not. Although solar panel systems have been proven to increase a home’s value, they have a special exemption so that property tax is not affected. Learn more 

What happens if I sell my home?

The solar panel system will add value to a home and the net-metering contract is easily transferrable to the new homeowner.

How will my electricity bill be affected by the solar + energy storage system?

One of the benefits of the solution is that your electricity bill will be significantly reduced. The system allows you to determine and reduce the amount of grid-supplied electricity, as well as increase the use of clean solar power. It allows you to use stored power in the evening, and during the day you could send excessive solar power back to the grid to gain credits toward offsetting the electricity bill.

Could the battery’s stored energy be used during a blackout?

Yes. In the case of a power outage power from both the PV panels and battery can be used within the home. It will allow you to power the loads on your backup panel which our technicians can help you best determine before installation.


What is the difference between off-grid, & net metering?

Off-grid systems: the electricity produced from the solar panels and energy from the batteries is used to power the whole home when it is not possible to install a hydro line.

Net metering systems: use electricity produced from the solar panels, then send excess energy back to the grid to receive credits to offset hydro bill.

What happens if I need to reshingle?

Panasonic completes a roof analysis before installation. However, if a customer must reshingle in the future, our crew can remove the panels and racking, allow roofers to reshingle, then reinstall the panels. In most cases, inverters, some wiring, and meter bases do not need to be moved. When you are ready to reshingle, please contact us for a labour quote to remove and reinstall your solar panels. 

How accurate are your ENERGY PRODUCTION projection numbers?

We take great pride in providing accurate and realistic income projections. Panasonic uses one of the best renewable energy software packages to calculate energy production. We consider specific variables such as roof pitch, azimuth, panel efficiency, and degradation, as well as long-term weather conditions and sun exposure in your area.

Does Panasonic use third party installers?

To ensure top quality installation and after-install service, Panasonic uses only experienced, in-house and full-time installers, engineers, and master electricians for all of our systems.


How long will the battery power last during a power outage?

During the design phase, we will work with you to determine the backup loads on the electrical sub panel. During a power outage, solar and battery energy will only power the pre-determined backup loads of the home. The lithium-ion battery can supply reserved power for a few hours at a time depending on the characteristics of the backup loads, and how much sun is available to be used directly by the home and to recharge the battery pack. 

What is Net Metering?

Net metering allows you to send excess electricity generated from renewable resources to the distribution system for a credit toward your energy costs. In essence, it’s a “trade” of electricity you supply against electricity you consume. You can also buy electricity from the utility company if you haven’t produced enough of your own. The Panasonic Residential Energy Storage Solution includes the hard equipment (solar photovoltaic system, hybrid inverter, lithium-ion battery) and soft equipment (web-based monitoring tool, design, engineering, permits, ESA, labour, warranty). The solution allows you to use clean renewable solar power, manage your energy consumption, save on electricity bills and have backup power in the event of a power outage.

1) Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels system The solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which is used to power the whole home’s electrical loads (lights, appliances etc.), stored in the battery, or sent back to the electricity grid. In the case of an outage, the solar panels will power only the backup loads.

2) Hybrid inverter The inverter converts direct current (DC) from solar PV and the battery, to alternating current (AC) for household usage. It has the flexibility of managing energy flow: sends solar power for home use and/or the grid, stores solar power in the battery for nighttime use, and provides backup during grid outages. 3) Lithium-ion battery

The battery uses Panasonic lithium-ion battery cells to store electricity from the solar PV system and/or from the grid. The homeowner can easily control the time and depth of discharge of the battery.

4) Web-based remote monitoring tool The monitoring platform will allow you to remotely track and view the solar production, battery charge and discharge state, the electricity you send back to the grid and more.

Yes, we will be with you every step of the way even helping you to determine your back-up load. We install and design the system to meet each homeowner’s specific needs. Typical loads indicated on the back-up panel for cottages are the refrigerator, water pump, essential lights, and electrical outlets, but your needs may be different.


Once you have your vehicle charging station in place you will use that system to charge your electric vehicle’s battery. The electricity used by the vehicle charging station can be the renewable energy coming from the solar PV panels or the storage battery that is part of our system. It can also come from the grid if the solar system isn’t producing electricity.


Traditional generators are cheaper upfront, however they require constant supply of fossil fuels (natural gas, propane or diesel) and maintenance to keep all parts working properly. A home battery does not require fossil fuels or regular maintenance. We provide a 10-year warranty while most generators have a 5-year warranty. Lithium-ion batteries are also more environmentally friendly due to the fact that it doesn’t emit grouse gas which would contribute to climate change. Portable and standby generators would emit carbon monoxide when operating so they need to be placed in well ventilated areas. Generators are also quite noisy whereas an energy storage solution is discrete and emits much less noise.
